Warmer Weather

It seems like spring just didn't want to come this year. Last summer & fall seem like a lifetime ago. It was chilly & rainy & blah for so many weeks. Every day I would wish for warmer weather. It finally arrived last week, & we had gorgeous days that hit the upper 80's & 90's! The first day we had windows open & were enjoying the sunshine & warmth, but by afternoon our house was heating up quick! I decided to turn the AC on, only to find out it just blew basically hot air. My wish came true a little too much! Reiley & I just lazed around trying to stay cool. She didn't mind it too much. She liked kicking around in bare feet. I have to say, even though the heat became very uncomfortable & overpowering, I would choose that way above being too cold! This winter, while I was still in Charlottesville, our heater gave out for Loren. It was an icebox in our house. I think our heating & cooling system is trying to tell us it's old & needs to be replaced!

Yesterday Bryson stayed with us for a good chunk of the day. It was so fun having him here. He is basically a year older than Reiley. His age group is so fun! I am enjoying Reiley in the stage she's in now, but I know I'm going to have even more fun with her when she gets to be a toddler. Bryson didn't want to have anything to do with Reiley when we first brought her home from the hospital, but now he's definitely warming up to her. He is very sweet & gentle with her.

Eating yummy strawberries & blackberries that later will make Aunt Ruthie clean something unpleasant. I know I'm wearing a pink flowery bib, but mom forgot to pack mine. It's cute though, right?

Picnic With The Youth

Sunday afternoon we took the youth into D.C. for a picnic along the Potomac. It was a gorgeous day. We all enjoyed it so much. This was our first real youth activity since Reiley was born. Loren & I really missed hanging out with everyone for all those months I was in Charlottesville. Reiley is a fun addition! I have all the baby-holders I want when we're all together! She did so well yesterday being lazy in the shade! The guys played corn-hole & we wanted to also play badminton, but the net turned into a high-jump (for some people) instead!

Reiley went to the dr. again on Friday. Everything is good! She will have to stay on her special formula for a long time yet though. She weighed in at 9 lb. 1 oz.!

Reiley Goes Green

One gift we received for our baby shower was a starter kit for gDiapers. We started using them this week & are really liking how they work. Here's a little info:

gDiapers consist of a washable, cotton outer pant and a plastic-free flushable refill. They are made of breathable material just like sports clothing. So, babies stay dry and happy and are far less likely to get diaper rash. They are free of elemental chlorine, perfumes, plastic, inks or dyes, and latex.
50 million disposable diapers enter the landfill every day. Each one takes up to 500 years to biodegrade. Not a very nice baby gift for your great, great, great, great, great grandbaby now, is it? gDiapers get flushed, so they don't have to go in the landfill. Everything that goes into making a flushable refill gets reabsorbed by the planet in a neutral or helpful way. It's very cool.

Happy Easter

My sister Ragina came to see us over Easter weekend. It was so wonderful to have her here! We didn't do too much over the weekend. Steve & Delilah (my brother & sister-in-law) usually came to our house or we would go down to theirs. Delilah, Gina, the kiddos & I went shopping one day. We also got some fun sibling table game times in, but usually the focus was Bryson & Reiley!
Reiley & I didn't know what to do with ourselves when we got home from taking Aunt Gina to the airport. We are really looking forward to seeing her again in 2 months!

On Easter Sunday, Reiley got to wear the dress that her mommy wore for HER first Sunday! Mom was keeping it in her cedar chest & dug it out to send up with Gina. It fit well!

All dressed up for church!

Visitors

We've been really busy the last little while! Grandma & Grandpa Yoder FINALLY came to see Reiley! They hadn't seen her since she was first born. They had come up from Florida when I was in the hospital & then mom stayed with me the first week I was discharged while I was still recuperating. This was the first that they could hold her though. She loved every minute of their visit & has since decided that she must be held all the time!
Reiley went to church for the first time over the weekend while mom & dad were still here. It was really special to go to church again. I personally hadn't been there since the beginning of December. We had a dedication for Reiley, & mom & dad were able to participate in that. We feel so unworthy of this wonderful gift God has given us.
